Ferdie & Elzette | A Hometown Celebration

Ferdie and Elzette’s story feels like a scene out of a love story and they have just finished the first chapter.

They met at a wine expo through a mutual friend and a while after started dating. They packed their bags for their next adventure, working in Europe for a year. This is their engagement story:

“We lived in Netherlands for the last year and decided we wanted to take a trip to Iceland in April to see the Northern Lights. Usually, when planning trips, we split the planning task 50/50. I should have gotten suspicious when Ferdie was suddenly organising everything – he had something much bigger up his sleeve! He booked all these romantic accommodation in Iceland, he was also VERY possessive when carrying his hand luggage (containing my engagement ring). Our first night’s accommodation was a “bubble” hotel that is very secluded and has the most amazing view of the night sky. We went for a nice dinner and when we came back to our “hotel”, roses and champagne was waiting for us. Ferdie proposed right there under a million bright shining stars 🙂 The rest of the holiday was just as romantic with jacuzzi’s at every stop and more champagne.”

While planning their wedding from the Netherlands they decided to get married just outside Elzette’s hometown, Jan-Kempdorp a small little town in the Northern Cape in sunny South Africa.

The Venue in Hartswater will always be one of our favourite venues to photograph at.
